Proserpine Medical Centre is a general practice located in the main street of Proserpine, a regional town in Far North Queensland. The practice was established in 1954 and has been in its current premises since 1985. Dr. Paul Joice has been the primary doctor since 1983, with periodic registrars attending for further training and experience.
Our practice is actively seeking a new practitioner interested in joining our team and becoming a partner/owner in our thriving clinic.
Located just 20 minutes from the coastal town of Airlie Beach – the stepping off point for the 74 Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef – our practice is at the hub of a bustling and vibrant regional community. Totally refurbished in 2009, the practice is modern and fully equipped, including facilities for minor surgery. We also take a keen interest in the assessment and treatment of chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes.
The practice is open Monday to Wednesday & Friday, We offer our own after-hours ‘on call’ emergency service for our existing patients. We also benefit from a very well-equipped rural hospital in the town, which specialises in pediatrics, genecology and surgery and regularly plays host to visiting specialists from near-by metropolitan centres.
Dr. Joice continues to do hospital admissions and Nursing Home patients are visited on a weekly basis. We are a mixed billing practice offering our aged pensioners bulk billing. We are fully computerised and are a fully accredited practice with AGPAL.
Dr. Joice (MBBS BHA Dip RACOG FACRRM FRACGP) has been practising in the rural community of Proserpine for more than 30 years. He is a member of the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland and a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. He has a Diploma in obstetrics and also practises acupuncture.
Dr. Joice is supported by an enthusiastic team, including registered nurse Leni Joice, who is also the Practice Manager, as well as two Practice Nurses. There are also two full-time receptionists.
